The peaceful and prosperous kingdom of Shendar is about to be invaded by a nation of fierce warriors who have been displaced from their homeland by a natural disaster. Fearful of being overrun, Prince Cray, who is acting as regent for his fourteen-year-old sister, Queen Shian, appeals to their powerful neighbor, the kingdom of Veldi, for military aid. The Veldins agree, but on a condition that places Cray at the mercy of the handsome and charismatic Prince Reston. But is Cray’s sexual compliance the only demand the Veldins intend to place on Shendar?

What a surprisingly fulfilling book. I have to admit I was a bit put off by the author's cheesy pen name but I'm glad I didn't let that stop me from purchasing it.
I really prefer reviews that focus more on what the book made me feel but I'll give a brief summary of the plot: Shendar is a wealthy and peaceful kingdom. It's unusual in that the heirs are always from the women's line, ensuring the kingdom stays within the family. Queen Shian is merely fourteen, so her older brother, Prince Cray, acts as regent until she is of age. Unfortunately, a natural disaster has prompted a warrior tribe into trying to invade Shendar. Therefore it is decided to seek aid from the strong, neighboring kingdom. That kingdom's heir, Prince Reston, along with his brother, Revi, come for negotiations. It appears that they are amenable to lending aid if their countries become bound by a marriage contract. With little options, Shian and Cray agree but Cray believes his sister is too young to share a marriage bed. However, Reston says he'll honor their contract if Cray would act as substitute.
This book richly explored the emotional, political and personal ramifications such a choice would involve. It was also interesting to see the delicate balance Cray had to keep in order to satisfy his duty to his people, his sister and himself. Despite that focus, the aspect of war wasn't overlooked or forgotten and a darker secret that Reston nursed was always hinted at which was intriguing but not distressing because I never doubted Reston's sincerity once.
A really enjoyable read. It was never boring but neither was it outrageously thrilling but rather steadily and thoroughly enjoyable. That may not seem too complimentary but it is. Sometimes, I just want to read a book that I know with absolute certainty will end well for everyone and doesn't send me hurdling through a whirlwind of emotions. Very pleasing.

Is this the same author who wrote these other works? The plot basically revolves around the bed scenes by our two main characters. Everything else appears secondary to the story. Come on now, must I really endure at least six occasions of detailed love making? Personally, I'm reading m/m novels for a different take on a story but not for excessive eroticism. BTW, get this one. We have one guy never having sex with either gender who accepts the receptive role . He never voices an interest in taking a dominant position. Is this for real?

Now, listen up. The premise is our prince takes the place of his sister due to her age in the conjugal bed. The last time I heard during the middle ages or ancient kingdoms of the past young ladies(age 14 or younger) took partners due to a shorter life span.

Historical inaccuracies, stereotyping same sex behavior and a dull tale does not promote recommending this book. The ending seemed unfinished when the Queen and her brother are insulted by one of their advisors without any retribution or comments. It's as if the author lost the train of thought. Let's see. We have a higher price, less pages and a poorly written story.
I feel like I've had a hard time finding MxM novels that weren't pure smut without plot. This was a very refreshing find! From the moment I started reading the sample I knew I had to get this and I do not regret it. The story kept me wanting to read more so much so that I read before work, during lunch break, and after work. The characters are all developed very well and can make you smile, laugh, and even feel exasperated. I would definitely recommend buying this book!

I love this book and can't wait to read more by this author!
I was dubious of this because of the Authors name, too kitschy for me but I have a weakness for slave books so i took a chance and was surprised. I very much liked the main characters of Bray and Reston and Shian was a nice addition to the flow of the book, keeping it lighter than most slave type books.

The book flowed very well and the characters were in depth enough to give you a feel for them and what they are experiencing.

By the time it was done, I had wished there was more.
The dynamic between sibling relationship had an equal amount of screen time as the romance between the two main characters. The fast forward in the time line as the war in the background wage made the story seem more surface level. Overall not a bad novel, there's still potential for it to be so much more.
I liked this book a lot, however there was some things I had trouble with. Mostely I thought Reston was overbearing and patronizing at times. I got tiered of hearing how "childish" the young queen was acting an at times I thought the story kept on forever, when other parts felt rushed. And Crays and Restons relationship was a bit like that to, rushed and slow, in a strange mix. I also felt the relationship between the siblings was a bit strange, particually between Reston and Revi.

Even with those points, overall I liked the story.
5+ Stars. I absolutely loved this book. There is a fair amount of sex but it's well written and does not go on for pages and pages like some books do. Nor is there a lot of angst or political intrigue. Problems are resolved fairly quickly and easily because Prince Cray and Prince Reston are politically savvy and perfect for each other. It was just an extremely enjoyable journey that I read in one sitting.

I don't give 5 Stars lightly. If you haven't read anything from I encourage you to try her. So far there has been nothing I have read that I haven't given 4 or 5 Stars.
The consort ....er...um...I mean the concubine is out f!#=nn standing!! Get down Mom! And get back up again!! I think every book she has written is excellent!! There are not many black authors that write gay/mm fantasy sci-fi horror etc. Mom is one of the chosen few black and female authors that write in all these genres...and she does it very well!! She is not afraid to write full length mm novels ....and she can do it with a little or a lot of the smutty stuff with a dash of spicy seasoning and keep the readers coming back for more!! Don't take my damn word 4 it ! Scroll on up and check one of her books out!
