London, 1897
Caught in a web of poverty and injustice, Lily Rafferty takes employment in a dancehall. Though she loathes being viewed as a pretty piece of meat wrapped in silk for the enjoyment of the West End gentlemen out for a bit of slumming, she can't help but feel her luck is about to change.
Rhys Trevan Morgan, Viscount Talfryn is a vampire with a mission. Another supernatural creature prowls the night leaving a trail of blood and gore in its wake that eventually leads him to London's East End and to the Barbary Coast dancehall. He doesn't need the distraction of coming to the aid of a young woman forced to strip and parade herself on stage for the voyeuristic pleasure of the club's wealthy patrons.
Soon, the momentary distraction becomes a craving Rhys can't resist and he wonders if the fair Lily will be the end of his frightful curse or the vehicle of his destruction.

This short paranormal story of the hero Talfryn and the heroine Lily was a good adventure! It only took me about 4/12 hours to read part of the afternoon away. I just wish it was a little longer.Lily the heroine an orphan virgin with ethics works in a dancehall earning a decent living just dancing. She just does not enjoy or takes pleasure in other men attempting to take advantage of her. Talfryn a apathetic cold viscount/halfling comes to the dancehall disrupting and saving her repeatedly from lecherous gentlemen imposing on her. Lily is a strong female who fights the advances with Talfryn's help. Talfryn takes her to a room not to intrude on her chasteness but to tell her who he is and to protect Lily from another dark force that wants her eventually saving the heroine and she saving him by giving her blood. In the end Talfryn takes her from the dancehall to live with him.
Overall, I liked the story, the hero and heroine. I would definitely read another story from Ms Susanne Saville.

Dance Macabre Lords of Pendragon Book 1 edition by Susanne Saville Romance eBooks Reviews
This book was terrible! Pornagraphic and short. It was a short story without a story. Do not buy this book!
IT WAS TOO SHORT! I loved this story, the characters. But right when I was really getting into it I notice on my that I am 53% done! Ah! It ended to soon and so much could have been continued into the story. Like I said, I would have given it 5 stars had it been longer. It's worth the read but WAY to short!
I read this book for about 30 mins and I had to quit is was just so bad. I'm sure somebody likes it but it just was not for me.
I loved this late-Victorian era PNR. Susanne Saville does a wonderful job drawing the reader into her world - her writing style, character development, the descriptions, the pace - everything was superbly well done! I've read dozens and dozens of short stories here recently, but I can only count on one hand the number of times I've read a short where the author successfully created a complete and highly satisfying story on par with a full length novel.
Although this is a short story, it is on the longer side (56 pages), and unlike many shorts out there today 1) it is edited, 2) I did not feel like the ending was rushed, 3) it is a complete story in and of itself and even though it is the first in a series, there isn't promotional material at the end.
I was glad to have downloaded this book while it was offered for free as I'm sure I would not have anted up the current $3.99. Price is so subjective but at least on 's marketplace, most NYT bestselling and multi award winning authors (which as far as my quick research could find, this author is not) are offering their shorts for less - for example, I recently downloaded a short by Kresley Cole that was about 60% longer (not including excerpts) and priced at $1.99. Anyway, my point is that shorts from top tier authors are going more in the $.99 to $1.99 tier so I was disappointed to come back to this page to review the book and find it was now so expensive.
But I digress. I did thoroughly enjoy this book and would be interested in continuing to read this series. If the price is right for you, this one is thoroughly recommended!
I really liked this book. It was short, sweet, to the point and had vampires! I don't usually review books but I couldn't help it with this one. It is by no means the best book I've ever read but the length makes it an easy read, though I would have preferred it to be a little longer. There wasn't much character development but seeing as how this is the first of a series, hopefully we'll get more background in the next installment. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
Nice attention to detail. Interesting characters. This is a period piece written by a historian and it shows in the language and descriptions. I enjoyed reading about the seamy underbelly of Victorian prudery and the mystery plot was engaging. Miss Saville, you really should expand this out to a full novel! The e-book edition had a few formating oddities, but nothing that would disrupt your enjoyment of the story. I'm just really picky about that! I noticed one or two typos as well. Again, nothing that would spoil your enjoyment of this story. Overall, intriguing and enjoyable. I am going to check out some of her other kindle books, if that tells you anything.--Rodd Reduxxx, Author of The Oldest Living Vampire Tells All
This is a good sexy book with simple characters.
This book is rather short but unlike other short books it suffers only a little from not having enough room for characters to breathe. The main female and male leads have good backstories and good enough personalities. The female's character does tend to waffle a bit, sometimes she's "demure", sometimes not, one moment she refuses, then the next moment permits. It wasn't too bad though and doesnt detract from the purpose of the book. The male is a bit of your standard lead in books like this. He's brooding and a basic insert your own dreamboat type of character at times, not always though.
The story itself is simple but succeeds in it's purpose. Don't look for complex twist and turns and you'll be fine. Do look for a nice erotic tale. There is quite a bit of naughty stuff when the time finally comes. It was written wonderfully explicit.
4 stars. I would have given it a perfect score but I felt like it could have been better with just a bit more story.
